The Kennedy Group Provides The Largest Supply Of Generation 2 Smart Labels
The Kennedy Group's Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) group, a turnkey leader in EPC-compliant solutions featuring state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, currently has Smart Therm labels and cards with Generation 2 inlays readily available. These smart labels are available with inlays from Alien Technologies Corporation, Texas Instruments Incorporated and Avery Dennison Corporation that are fully compliant with EPC compliance initiatives. Generation 2 Smart Therm labels and cards will include inlays from additional manufacturers as they become available.
The Kennedy Group has further positioned itself to meet the needs of its clients by updating its production lines to produce substantial volumes of Smart Therm labels with Gen 2 inlays in shorter lead times. The equipment incorporates a pre-select quality control process and sorts out a defective transponder before it is attached to the substrate and replaces it with a good one in a fraction of a second. By updating its production lines to produce Smart Therm labels with Gen 2 inlays, The Kennedy Group ensures high levels of quality and capacity, so customers can confidently use the smart labels in their expendable or reusable containers, pallets, racks and other supply chain applications.
To ensure the availability of inlays, The Kennedy Group and Alien Technology® Corporation have amended their multi-year agreement to include Gen 2 products. By being aggressively committed to the purchase of inlays, The Kennedy Group ensures product is always available with a make-to-stock business model so that it can easily fulfill customer requirements in shorter lead times.
"This agreement demonstrates our strong commitment to our customers' needs," said Patrick Kennedy, The Kennedy Group Vice President/Marketing & Sales. "When companies contact us about Gen 2 product, they are concerned about consistently high levels of quality and an adequate supply of inlays. The agreement with Alien ensures that we have an adequate supply of inlays in the pipeline to provide product in a short period of time at the lowest possible cost."
In conjunction with the manufacturing of Smart Therm labels with Gen 2 inlays, The Kennedy Group has updated the technology in its SmartOne RFID Applicators to enable their use. Customers can be confident the Gen 2 technology will meet their expectations.
"SmartTherm labels with new Gen 2 transponders are put through extensive testing in our RFID Customer Solution Center," adds Kennedy. "We test the smart labels in dock door and conveyor simulations and through readers, printers and applicators to ensure the technology performs before we introduce it to the market place."
Customers will experience a number of advantages with Gen 2 smart labels over existing inlays. Some key advantages include faster read rates, interoperability between tags from other vendors and performance improvement.
The Kennedy Group continues to offer the largest selection of RFID starter kits in the industry. All of the Starter Kits are designed to assist first-time users in complying with RFID mandates according to their specific needs, budget and timetable. The kits include bundled hardware, software and Gen 2 Smart Therm labels.
