Sokymat Glass Tags Used To Track Printed Circuit Boards
Sokymat, the world's leading supplier of RFID transponders, announces today that its glass tags have been chosen by CompControl GmbH to provide full traceability of printed circuit boards in the manufacturing process and throughout the entire lifecycle of a product.
With today's world printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing market valued at 30 billion Euro, and with the industry witnessing tougher international regulations regarding traceability, recycling and maintenance of high value electronic units, there is a need to introduce more highly automated manufacturing and tracking processes.
CompControl, a leading supplier of advanced process automation solutions for the manufacturing of electronic products, is using Sokymat 125kHz glass tag RFID transponders in its tracking systems. The Sokymat glass tags are mounted on the PCB at the beginning of the production process. The RFID transponder, which is used throughout the life of the PCB to identify and access information about the product, is assembled onto the board using standard SMD (surface mount device) mounting equipment.
CompControl's solution allows the user to have full visibility over the entire process down to the level of the individual parts. Each product has a unique ID that can also be used for stock control, production planning and control systems, manufacturing, production control and optimization, making it possible to increase the efficiency of business processes.
Further advantages for the user of the system include the ability to optimize set-up of the SMD machines, optimize product maintenance cycles, and control recycling, as specified by current legislation.
Egon Konopitzky, Vice President of Sokymat, comments, "With the fully automated mounting of Sokymat glass tag transponders onto the PCBs, CompControl has demonstrated how to efficiently use RFID technology for the identification and tracking of electronic products, providing enough advantages to ensure the needed ROI for specific products."
