RFID Solution: RF IDeas Introduces Internet-Enabled pcProx(R) IP Readers

RF IDeas, Inc. today unveiled its Internet-enabled line of pcProx® line of intelligent desktop readers for RFID proximity cards. RF IDeas is demonstrating pcProx IP at the ASIS show, Sept. 25-28, 2006 in San Diego at the RF IDeas booth # 525 and several booths including HID, TransTech and others from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

The Internet or intranet connection is facilitated via a RJ45 dongle from a 3 ft. cable attached to the reader. A standard power supply wall adaptor is included. The Internet models expand popular solutions beyond the walls and buildings such as enrollment, employee identification, logical access, time and attendance, and more.

The pcProx packaging is credit card-sized and is only about half an inch thick. It features a nicely styled contemporary design with rounded edges. A beeper and a green LED indicate when the reader is in use. Its flexible design, which includes an articulating cable and self-tapping mounting holes, installs cleanly on desktops, laptops, PDAs, kiosks, walls, time and attendance terminals or other configurations.

The award-winning pcProx line of readers include support for HID, Indala, Casi-Rusco, AWID, Pyramid, Keri, Kantech, EM, and others.

The pcProx IP readers connect to PCs and workstations through the Inter- or Intra-net enabling the convergence of IT applications with proximity access control cards. Intelligent designs within the reader make it easy to set up the reader to use proximity cards with any IT application. Once configured, the pcProx reader securely reads the card information and delivers it to the end user's existing application. In use, the card owner simply waves their proximity card over the reader, and it sends the card's identification.

There are over two hundred million proximity cards in use for facility access control. In many cases these are used as the main employee ID badge. The pcProx reader makes it easy to converge IT security and other applications on a single RFID card without software development. Examples include employee enrollment, identification at data capture stations, one- or two-factor logon authentication system or any other software application requiring the identification of users.

RF IDeas provides consulting and engineering assistance to help clients implement solutions, and a high-level software development kit for the pcProx is available. OEM models that are compact, modular and easily adaptable into various enclosures are also immediately available.
