RFID Retail: TAGSYS Launches UHF RFID System For Apparel Industry

TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) infrastructure, demonstrated their complete ultra-high frequency ("UHF") RFID infrastructure designed specifically for the unique needs of the apparel industry at Euroshop 2008.

RFID provides manufacturers with the ability to accurately track and safeguard goods throughout the entire supply chain to improve operating costs. Apparel retailers benefiting from RFID receive real-time visibility into inventory and product movement to reduce loss prevention, improve store productivity and boost brand loyalty. UHF item-level RFID is ideally suited for the apparel industry since it offers a long range to rapidly and accurately read goods.

"Euroshop is the ideal venue for TAGSYS to exhibit its new UHF RFID infrastructure for the apparel industry. TAGSYS is one of only a few companies to deliver an item-level RFID infrastructure to both manufacturers and retailers that follow products through the entire supply chain to point of sale (POS)", explains Olivier Burah, TAGSYS' Vice President of Sales.

TAGSYS will showcase the following products at Euroshop:

  • UHF RFID Tunnel: TAGSYS RFID tunnels deliver fast, efficient and highly reliable detection rates equating to superior accuracy in item counting at distribution centers. Upon entering the tunnel, shipping case contents are instantaneously identified and recorded.
  • RXU400 UHF Fixed Reader: The RXU400 UHF Fixed Reader provides maximum flexibility in configuring item tracking applications to read large numbers of RFID-tagged packaged items at a distance.
  • Wi-Fi RFID Inventory Reader: TAGSYS inventory readers streamline receipt of inbound shipments and facilitate inventory management of RFID-tagged items on store shelves and racks. Up to 7,000 items can be scanned in less than 20 minutes providing accurate, daily updates on current stock levels. Stock level data can be integrated with the store's management information system to create a seamless automatic order and replenishment process that improves sales and strengthens customer loyalty.
  • Point of Sale RFID Station: Designed to integrate into a store's checkout counter, the RFID station instantly identifies items for purchase thereby speeding up the check-out process.
  • RFID Interactive "Magic Mirror": This innovative new product from Big Space integrates a PC screen within an RFID station. Customers trying on retail items equipped with RFID-tags approach a specially-designed mirror that reads the RFID tag and automatically triggers a visual marketing message.
