RFID Gen 2: Avery Dennison RFID Releases AD-222 Inlay

Avery Dennison RFID, a business unit of Avery Dennison Corporation and leading provider of RFID technology and services, announced today that it has released the 4" x .5" AD-222 inlay, an upgrade from the popular, general-purpose Gen 2 AD-220.
"The AD-222 offers significant improvements which deliver solid benefits to our growing base of customers," says George Reynolds, VP of global sales and marketing, "And the AD-222 is "plug-and-play" (with the AD-220 or similar size tag) moving seamlessly into the same position in an existing application. One of the noteworthy new features is wide-band functionality. The AD-222 inlay operates across the globe in regions operating between 866 and 954 MHz. And it performs on a broader variety of carton contents. "
The AD-222 also offers improved read rates and readrange for better overall read performance. The AD-222 inlay position remains the same as the AD-220 (as well as other popular 4" x .5" inlays) which means most users with common RFID printer hardware will not have to change any settings or re-configure label artwork.
"The AD-220 is currently used in a variety of applications from supply chain carton tracking to CD inventory monitoring to multimedia shopping cart and self-serve retail kiosks. The enhancements offered by the AD-222 give users even more options with this small footprint inlay, " says Reynolds.
