RFID Events: RFID Journal, EPCglobal North America And CIDX Launch First RFID Event For Chemicals

RFID Journal a one of the, leading media and events company covering radio frequency identification (RFID), recently announced that it is partnering with EPCglobal North America, the authority on EPC/RFID standards, and CIDX, the leading standards body for the chemical industry, to produce a pre-conference seminar focused on the use of EPC (Electronic Product Code) technologies in the chemical industry. The seminar will be held on Monday, April 30, at RFID Journal LIVE! 2007, RFID Journal's fifth annual conference and exhibition located in Orlando at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.

It's crucial for chemical companies to have industry-driven standards for radio frequency identification that address the specific needs of the industry community. This seminar examines key business issues that can be addressed with EPC technologies. Technology issues will be touched on, but the focus is mainly on the business opportunities, priorities and challenges of implementing EPC technologies to address the specific issues inherent to chemical companies.

Sessions will cover:

  • Enhancing Safety in the Chemical Supply Chain
  • Incorporating RFID into Chemical Industry Data Exchange
  • The Benefits of Using Active RFID to Track Chemical Containers
  • The EPCglobal Transportation and Logistics Pilot in the Chemicals Industry

"We are pleased to be working with RFID Journal and CIDX to address the unique challenges companies in the chemical industry face," said Mike Meranda, president of EPCglobal North America. "The seminar will help attendees understand how EPC/RFID technology can be deployed today to solve the industry's supply chain issues."

"The chemical industry is joining the retail/consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical and transportation industries to create standards that enable all players to use RFID successfully," said Mark Roberti, founder and editor of RFID Journal. "We're pleased to be able to help educate the industry about where the benefits are and how they can use EPC and other RFID technologies to achieve real business benefits today."
