This year, vendors of both the Department of Defense and Wal-Mart are expected to ship their products with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags; other major retailers and manufacturers are not far behind. The Center for eBusiness and Advanced Information Technology (eBizITPA) and the RFID Center of Excellence at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College will host the second annual R U Ready for RFID? Conference on May 23, 2007 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center in Erie, PA.

The R U Ready for RFID? Conference will explore best practices and emerging technologies, both in the Department of Defense and commercial sectors. This year's conference features five sessions presented by nationally recognized RFID experts, thought leaders and major supplier companies; including keynote speaker Kathy Smith, Office of Assistant Deputy under the Secretary of Defense for Supply Chain Integration.

"This conference is designed to help participants understand how to satisfy supplier requirements, and how to increase productivity and improve the visibility of their supply chain," says Frank DeWolf, Director of the RFID Center of Excellence at Penn State Erie. "Supply chain, warehouse and plant managers, IT solution providers, manufacturing and transportation consultants, and logistics specialists should all be in attendance."
