RFID Asset Tracking Solution: inLogic Releases RFTrack.NET Starter Kit

Asset tracking solution provider inLogic, Inc. recently released the RFTrack.NET Starter Kit aimed at helping organizations rapidly implement an RFID asset tracking solution. The kit includes the necessary software, services, handheld RFID reader, and RFID tags to implement a fully functional system at a price starting at under $20,000.

RFTrack.NET kit is a comprehensive system that includes the necessary on-site professional services to help evaluate and select the types of tags that will work optimally with the types of assets a company plans to track. "While other starter kits only provide ‘lite' versions of their software that significantly limit the number of assets that can be inventoried using the kits, or only include software that runs on the handheld, the RFTrack.NET license included in the kit supports up to 5,000 assets and provides the necessary server software and reporting for a full implementation," said Scott Porter, CEO of inLogic. "There is no need to upgrade to a ‘full' system when you are ready to inventory all your assets."

"Selecting specific types of RFID tags for each category of assets is critical – which is why we chose Metalcraft to provide our tags based upon their expertise and the breadth and depth of their RFID tag product line," said Porter. Unlike barcode asset tages, there is no one size fits all passive RFID tag that will work with every type of asset. There are dozens of different types and sizes of RFID tags with varying characteristics and read ranges, so it is very important to carefully select tags that will work optimally with your assets. The on-site tag analysis service, included in the RFTrack.Net Starter Kit, provides the necessary testing and evaluation of tags on the assets in the customer's environment to determine which tags work best prior to placing their tag order.

"inLogic provides an invaluable service by going to a customer's location and helping them select the specific types of RFID tags," said Steve Doerfler, President of Metalcraft. "The RFID tag technology has significantly improved over the last few years, providing excellent performance and read ranges -- with the selection of the right tags for the particular assets."

The RFTrack.NET Inventory Module is designed to help organizations perform more accurate physical inventories of their assets using significantly less man-power through the utilization of RFID technology. In addition to supporting RFID, RFTrack.NET also supports standard barcode and DoD UID Data Matrix 2-D barcode tags. Although this starter kit allows organizations to track up to 5,000 assets, it is scalable and designed to easily add support for additional assets and readers. The RFTrack.NET Monitoring Module can also be implemented to provide real-time monitoring, inventorying, and security of assets using fixed RFID readers and optionally Active RFID technology.
