Xterprise Announces The General Availability Of Clarity-ITAM™ For IT Asset Management
Xterprise Incorporated, a leading global supplier of Solutions for the High Definition Enterprise and a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, announced recently the general availability of its Clarity-ITAM IT Asset Management solution. Currently deployed at a number of Fortune 100 companies in North America, the solution leverages RFID technology to greatly enhance the processes of auditing, tracking, managing and meeting compliance requirements associated with the vast quantities of distributed IT assets in corporate data center environments.
According to leading industry analysts, IT asset management remains a top of mind initiative for most CIOs today as they face mounting scrutiny from regulatory compliance legislation with a renewed interest in improving IT asset utilization. Xterprise has found that with the proliferation of rack-mounted servers and storage devices, as well as portable assets like laptops and removable hard-drives, as many as one third of today's corporate IT departments are operating in a state lacking facts and item level data with little visibility to the hardware they actually own, who is using them, and where they are physically located. Another fifty percent are in a purely reactive state, tackling asset management issues such as compliance audits as a single, lengthy project at a time.
"The solutions that CIOs have depended on up until now address supplier relationships, contracts, and purchasing, but do little to provide physical asset visibility or address the statutory reporting requirements associated with chain of custody," said Jim Caudill, vice president of marketing and strategy for Xterprise. "Our Clarity-ITAM™ application can integrate with these older solutions and provides CIOs the tools they desperately need to achieve understanding and clarity, and accurately report on valuable corporate IT assets."
Clarity ITAM was developed specifically to assist companies that want to manage IT asset inventory across multiple sites. Early deployments of the ITAM solution have helped clients find significant numbers of their assets in excess of need and have greatly reduced the cost of compliance. It also utilizes small form factor passive UHF RFID tags, tested extensively in Xterprise Labs and determined to be the most suitable for the challenging environments of tracking small, high-value assets, electronic devices, communications/network cards, servers and other IT assets. In the solution the assets are better managed from receipt of asset from vendor to decommissioning, providing a low TCO option for total life cycle asset management.
Like all solutions in the Clarity suite from Xterprise, Clarity-ITAM™ has been developed on the Microsoft software platform featuring Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2, Microsoft BizTalk RFID and Microsoft SQL Server, offering enterprise class scalability and performance at the lowest possible total cost of ownership.
"In today's difficult economic environment, financial services enterprises can save significant time and resources by effectively managing their physical IT assets," said Rich Feldmann, U.S. financial services \industry managing director, Microsoft Corp. "Xterprise's Clarity-ITAM™ for IT Asset Management solution, built on Microsoft's scalable, services-oriented architecture platform, helps deliver an RFID integration framework at the lowest possible total cost of ownership. We have seen a number of large customers with significant data center assets respond very positively to the features in the ITAM application from Xterprise."
Separately, Xterprise announces it has been accepted for membership in the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC), which is developing standards and defining best practices for the use of RFID technology within the financial services industry. To learn for about FSTC, visit www.fstc.org.
