RFID Apparel: TAGSYS Announces RFID Smart Cabinet For Folded Garments
TAGSYS, one of the leader in item-level RFID infrastructure, recently announced the launch of the SC400, an innovative Smart Cabinet for medical facilities and laundries. Building on the success of similar TAGSYS products for hanging garments since 1999, the SC400 is the industry's first and only RFID-enabled dispenser and collector for folded garments. The SC400 enables medical facilities and laundries to trace their textile assets throughout the supply chain—from receipt to issuance to return. Accurate, 100 percent visibility into on-hand and outstanding inventory enables laundries and hospitals to dynamically adjust supply levels, thus minimizing costly inventory procedures and eliminating shortages and misplaced items.
"This revolutionary system is an extension of TAGSYS' focus on data accuracy in item level asset tracking into the textile rental segment." said Elie Simon, president and CEO of TAGSYS. "With 100 percent read rates, the SC400 enables real-time management of staff uniform inventory to better control loss, theft, availability and returns. In addition, the Smart Cabinet provides immediate ROI to the textile rental community."
The SC400 features a patented, three-dimensional antenna design and industry-proven RFID reader technology to guarantee the 100 percent read rates crucial for reliable inventory management. The SC400's modular design affords customers the ability to scale from 100 to 500 items to match their facility's growth. In addition, the completely self-contained design assures ease of installation and upgrade in environments where IT resources are limited. The SC400 is delivered with all components and software fully integrated and configured, so that even staffs with limited RFID experience can quickly install multiple cabinets.
The system ensures security by requiring users to identify themselves with badges. The system then unlocks the appropriate compartment, and all other items remain locked. Without human intervention, the SC400 is a smart appliance that identifies, dispenses and tracks items based on specific user profiles and requirements.
"As the only solution of its kind on the market, the Smart Cabinet will be an invaluable method for hospitals to ensure 24/7 availability of clean garments and to reduce expenditures due to garment losses," said Rens Plandsoen, managing director of LCT. "Our expertise in automatic garment dispensing systems, coupled with TAGSYS' experience in RFID technology, has enabled LCT to become the first value-added reseller to offer this product to our customers."
"RFID-enabled lockers are a logical progression for the hospital industry and beyond," said Doyle Word, CEO of Steiner System. "Especially as laundry customers increasingly rent open-stock garments (interchangeable between customers or institutions), RFID is the key to controlling losses. Our work with TAGSYS and LCT marks a new era in the traceability and monitoring of garments to meet the standards of industrial, health, and food industry professionals."
Along with its patented 3D RFID tunnel, in use at laundry sites since 2003, TAGSYS will be demonstrating the SC400 Smart Cabinet for folded garments in booth 3004 at the CLEAN 2007 conference, taking place from June 11-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both products can also be viewed in partner Positek's booth, number 2256.
