Live Demonstrations Of RFID To Be Featured At INTERPHEX 2006
INTERPHEX and the International RFID Business Association (RFIDba), announced today that they have expanded the RFID solutions demonstration pavilion at the upcoming INTERPHEX 2006 event to include live demonstrations of RFID-equipped package and bottle handling conveyor belt systems.
INTERPHEX is the largest and longest running event devoted to the production and manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The event, which is being held at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center this March 21-23, attracts industry professionals from the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. The Food and Drug Administration has strongly endorsed the broad adoption of RFID across the industry by 2007 as the most effective means of ensuring the pedigree and authenticity of pharmaceuticals throughout the drug supply chain. In addition, RFID interest among business and technology professionals in these industries is being driven by mandates for its adoption by major retailers such as Wal-Mart and by the US Department of Defense.
"We are excited to expand the RFID Pavilion to now include two live conveyor belts that demonstrate RFID package and item-level processing," said Harry P. Pappas, RFIDba CEO and Founder. "It's rare that professionals actually get the chance to see first-hand how RFID might operate in a plant or distribution center."
The RFID Solutions Pavilion is part of an end-user education effort by INTERPHEX to introduce show attendees to information about RFID that is directly relevant to the needs of the pharma / life sciences marketplace. In addition to sponsoring the RFID Pavilion, a one day pre-conference seminar, RFID for Life Sciences, is being offered on March 20. This one-day course will provide an accelerated learning opportunity for pharmaceutical and life sciences professionals who want to understand RFID in the workplace.
"We've heard from our customers about the challenges they face in the workplace and how important it is for them to stay informed about new technologies," said RJ Palermo, Event Director for INTERPHEX. "RFID's potential impact on validated business processes means nearly everyone in pharma and life sciences needs to know how RFID will impact their jobs. With live demonstrations and a series of continuous briefings by invited speakers in the Pavilion's theatre, the RFID Solutions Pavilion at INTERPHEX2006 is unquestionably a good place to start this education."
The RFID Solutions Pavilion will host a speaking theatre, a number of RFID solution providers, and two live conveyor belts for both package and item-level RFID processing. The theatre will host 15 speakers on each day of INTERPHEX, with topics ranging from Getting RFID to Work and Drug Track & Trace Challenges to Leveraging RFID in the Supply Chain. The conveyor belts, courtesy of FlexLink, will feature demonstrations of RFID tags, readers and middleware in action. Industry leaders, including Impinj, Inc., Printronix Corporation and Siemens, among others, will showcase their products along the conveyor belt.
