Keynotes Announced For RFID Journal LIVE! 2010

Industry leaders from Airbus, Bombardier Transportation, Motorola and the U.S. Department of Defense will highlight RFID's ability to deliver total business visibility, at RFID Journal LIVE! 2010, the world's most important RFID conference and exhibition, to be held on Apr. 14-16, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.

RFID Journal, the leading source of news and in-depth information regarding radio frequency identification (RFID) and its many applications, recently announced that senior executives from Airbus, Bombardier Transportation, Motorola and the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) will deliver keynote addresses at the eighth annual RFID Journal LIVE! conference, which will be held on Apr. 14-16, 2010, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.

Carlo K. Nizam, Airbus' head of value chain visibility and RFID, and Vice-Admiral Mark D. Harnitchek, the director of strategy, policy, programs and logistics at the U.S. Transportation Command, will explain how their organizations are employing RFID and related technologies to achieve visibility across many aspects of their operations.

"RFID is an important part of our efforts to streamline business processes and reduce costs—not just for ourselves, but for our supply chain partners and customers," Nizam said. "We have been deploying the technology as part of an integrated, enterprise-wide system, and we are pleased to be able to share that approach with attendees at RFID Journal LIVE!"

The DOD has also been utilizing RFID—to achieve what it calls "total asset visibility"—and Vice-Admiral Harnitchek will outline how the technology is improving the agency's ability to ensure that soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan have the supplies they need, when they need them, in order to effectively execute the wars being fought in those countries.

The event will also feature a general session presentation by Keith Sheardown, the general manager of technology solutions for Bombardier Transportation, one of the world's leading railcar producers. And Mike Poldino, Motorola's VP and RFID Division general manager, will share his unique perspectives on the business value being unlocked by RFID, as well as the technology's importance as part of a complete mobility and communications strategy.

These speakers head a list of more than 100 presenters, including 50 end users presenting case studies, many of which are being made public for the first time. The conference program will focus on how all types of RFID technologies—active, Wi-Fi, passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF), passive high-frequency (HF) and more—can be used to provide business visibility to enable companies to streamline processes, lower costs and improve efficiencies. LIVE! 2010 will feature eight industry-specific and how-to conference tracks, nine in-depth preconference seminars, fast-track CompTIA RFID+ training and certification, three co-located events, the RFID Journal Awards, and technology exhibits and demonstrations conducted by the leading RFID companies worldwide.

"Businesses are increasingly seeing RFID as an infrastructure that can provide total business visibility, so we are extremely pleased to have Airbus and the U.S. Department of Defense, two organizations adopting this approach, explaining the benefits," said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "These leaders are showing how companies can use the visibility RFID provides to reduce short-term costs and deliver long-term efficiencies."

The conference will feature technology exhibits and demonstrations conducted by the leading RFID companies around the world. Motorola, whose RFID offerings are designed to help businesses simplify deployment, lower operational costs and achieve a return on investment, will be the event's cornerstone and registration sponsor. More than 175 RFID firms will exhibit at the event, demonstrating their latest technology solutions. To become an exhibitor, contact sales@rfidjournal.com.
