Innovators Behind Intelliguard RFID Management Systems, MEPS Supports RAIN's Efforts To MEPS Real-Time Among First Members Of RAIN RFID Promote Adoption Of UHF RFID Technology In Healthcare Industry
MEPS Real-Time Inc., a leading provider of RFID solutions for pharmacy automation and inventory management, has become an inaugural member of RAIN RFID, a new industry alliance dedicated to promoting the international adoption of UHF RFID.
Established in 2014, RAIN RFID, based in Cranberry Township, Pa., seeks to promote awareness, education, programs, and initiatives to accelerate the growth and adoption of ISO-IEC 18000-63/EPC Gen2 RFID in business and consumer applications worldwide.
Headquartered in Carlsbad, Calif., MEPS is on the leading edge of the change necessary to make healthcare more efficient and less costly, while providing the best care for patients. From pharmacy to point-of-care, the suite of Intelliguard RFID Management Systems provide real-time visibility of high-value, critical dose medication inventory, reduce costs associated with manual, error-prone inventory tasks, and ensure that the right drugs at the right doses are delivered when and where they are needed.
Underscoring its commitment to leading-edge RFID solutions, MEPS recently introduced the industry’s smallest RFID Smart Tag that significantly improves the automated replenishment of kits, trays and tackle boxes in the hospital pharmacy. A recent Time and Motion Study at Sharp Memorial Hospital (San Diego, CA) reported significant improvements in accuracy and 80 percent reduction in pharmacy replenishment times of medication kits and trays when using the Intelliguard Kit and Tray Management System.
“Since 2006, MEPS Real-Time has pioneered RFID-enabled pharmacy automation and inventory systems that help reduce the incidence of medication errors while increasing staff efficiencies and reducing costs,” said Shariq Hussain, CEO, MEPS Real-Time. “We applaud RAIN RFID’s founders — thought leaders and visionaries from Google, Impinj, Intel, Smartrac and AIM Global — for building advocacy and creating a unified voice for this beneficial technology. Through our membership in RAIN, we aim to support the alliance’s efforts to accelerate our industry’s growth while also benefitting from their leading edge research and other member services.”
“MEPS Real-Time has taken a leadership role in developing RFID inventory management solutions for the pharmaceutical supply chain including hospitals and other healthcare facilities, as well as, wholesalers and distributors,” said Steve Halliday, President, RAIN RFID. “We look forward to working with this emerging and innovative company on our shared mission of increasing the adoptance of RFID technology.”
