The IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' ISO 18000-7 product line includes six unique active RFID tags - feature rich with advanced sensoring and security options as well as handheld and fixed readers. Developed in response to the U.S. Department of Defense RFID III bid's call for "state-of-the-art" RFID products, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' ISO 18000-7 line delivers track and locate capabilities so advanced, it virtually combines multi-system features into one solution.

During development, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS focused on producing a product line that not only met the stringent requirements of the Department of Defense, but provided additional features and capabilities that IDENTEC SOLUTIONS already delivered to its commercial customers. Designed to be rugged, the entire product line will easily withstand extreme environmental conditions while offering unsurpassed reliability. "Our goal was to not only meet the needs of the DoD, but to further expand our already extensive line of wireless sensing and active RFID products into additional commercial markets," states IDENTEC SOLUTIONS CEO, Gerhard Schedler.

Following development, the ISO 18000-7 product suite was subjected to rigorous testing and scrutiny by the Department of Defense. In December 2008, it was announced that after numerous competitor evaluations, four Prime Contractors had been selected, with IDENTEC SOLUTIONS being the technology provider for two of the four selected organizations.

Although well suited to defense related applications, the versatility and features of the ISO 18000-7 product suite is ideal for any organization requiring cross-border asset tracking capabilities. The interoperability of the ISO 18000-7 platform is a first for the active RFID industry and will have a significant impact on the RFID industry by accelerating the market's overall adoption of active RFID based solutions.

"The interoperability and cross border capabilities are key features of the ISO 18000-7 platform," furthers Gerhard Schedler. "Combine this with industry leading innovation and you have a product suite that our competition simply cannot match."

The ISO 18000-7 product line utilizes third generation ILR (Intelligent Long Range technology) as a communications platform, a feature that has long set IDENTEC SOLUTIONS technology apart from other active RFID providers. With over one million active RFID tags sold, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' ILR technology is also used to manage large-scale assets in the construction, transportation and automotive industries as well as enhance personnel safety in oil, gas and mining operations.

A long time proponent for the development of an active RFID industry standard, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS is a founding member of the Dash7 Alliance, a consortium of RFID suppliers, customers and other stakeholders with the goal of promoting a Dash7 (ISO 18000-7) standard - and is the only 18000-7 provider in Europe.
