Cubic Global Tracking Solutions Introduces Smarter Asset Tracking Technology To The DoD Market At NDTA Forum

Company Completes Integration of Iridium's New 9602 Modem for Enhanced Global Coverage and Cost Optimization
San Diego, CA - (Marketwire) - Cubic Global Tracking Solutions, the asset tracking business of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), today introduced their next-generation intelligent tracking solutions for military logistics professionals during the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) Forum & Expo in National Harbor, Maryland.
Cubic Global Tracking Solutions (Cubic GTS) was formed in May when Cubic acquired Impeva Labs, Inc., an international provider of defense and commercial cargo tracking solutions used by the U.S. Department of Defense for tracking and monitoring shipments in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. The company's "least cost routing" methodology selects the most cost-effective transmission link for data routing -- wireless mesh networking, active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), cellular or the ubiquitous global two-way coverage of the 66-satellite Iridium constellation -- to provide real-time asset tracking worldwide.
"We offer the most reliable, best value solution for customers," said Randall Shepard, Senior Vice President of Cubic GTS. "Within two minutes from any point on earth, we can provide crucial information to our DoD and commercial customers to better manage their high-value assets -- all for a very low life-cycle price. Remotely reconfigurable embedded intelligence allows our devices to only report when something unusual or of interest takes place. Redundant global communications, including Iridium, ensures that this actionable data is always received."
An Iridium partner for the past five years, Cubic GTS worked closely with Iridium to integrate the new 9602 modem into Cubic's fifth generation of products and is currently participating in Iridium's internal certification process. Cubic's open-architecture system enables customers to directly track and monitor valuable assets across the entire intermodal transportation network using secure Web-based applications. Alternatively, customers can rely on Cubic to provide global support around-the-clock.
Cubic GTS adds a new facet to Cubic Corporation's long legacy in satellite and positioning systems with its Global Sentinel Unit (GSU) wireless communications module. The GSU features low battery consumption, near-real-time position and status reporting, and the capability to alter reporting cycles based on threat conditions. Its environmentally hardened enclosure ensures years of dependable, service-free operation under the harshest conditions.
Cubic GTS will highlight its lab-verified and field-tested products and services in Booth H at NDTA.
Cubic GTS is part of the Defense Systems business of Cubic Corporation, which has decades of experience in developing systems to track and determine the geographical position of objects in the air, on the ground and at sea. In the 1950s and 1960s, Cubic systems tracked missiles soaring over military test ranges and Gemini and Apollo astronauts orbiting over the Earth. In the 1960s, the company developed a satellite surveying system for the U.S. Army that mapped the planet, and created highly successful position location systems for the oil drilling industry. From the 1970s through the present, Cubic systems have tracked military pilots and ground troops during combat training exercises.
Cubic Corporation is the parent company of three major business segments: Defense Systems, Mission Support Services and Transportation Systems. Cubic Defense Systems is a leading provider of realistic combat training systems, cyber technologies, asset tracking solutions, and defense electronics. Mission Support Services is a leading provider of training, operations, maintenance, technical and other support services. Cubic Transportation Systems is the world's leading provider of automated fare collection systems and services for public transit authorities.
