Case Study: Courier Company Uses BlackBerry Solution To Help Reduce Operational Costs And Improve Customer Service
The Challenge:
Reliably Manage and Track Drivers
Edina Couriers wants to precisely track the location of its drivers for two reasons. First, knowing locations by the minute can help them schedule driver pick ups and relay arrival times to customers who have time-sensitive deadlines. Second, Edina Couriers wants to make it more attractive and cost-effective for their drivers, who are independent contractors, to do their work.
The company tried various ways of tracking their drivers' locations. For awhile, they used a GPS system that was hardwired into the vehicles. But the system was unreliable; antennas could be knocked off easily and positions would be lost. It was also not versatile enough for the many vehicles used to courier shipments – everything from refrigerated trucks to bicycles.
