Bibliotheca To Provide St. Louis County Library System With RFID Self Check-Out Stations
Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems is pleased to announce that they have been selected as the St. Louis County Library Systems RFID provider. "It is an honor to be chosen by this large and prestigious library system in Missouri" said Emmett Erwin, President and CEO of Bibliotheca. The St. Louis County Library consists of 20 libraries and 10 bookmobiles with a collection of over 3 million items.
Charles Pace, the County Librarian stated, "I have had experience in a previous library system with the Bibliotheca people and equipment which made this decision easy. Affordable prices, great support and state-of-the-art equipment all factored into the decision process."
Bibliotheca's security gates will be installed with the exclusive GateTracker software which allows the staff to identify items that were not properly checked out from their workstations. This feature builds confidence not only in the staff because it eliminates false alarms, but it also is a powerful deterrent to theft.
The St. Louis County Library System has had a marked increase in usage and circulation since Charles' arrival over two years ago. New programs have been a success with the patrons, plus increased patron computers and usage had stretched the staff to its limits.
"Jake Fejedelem, my IT manager and I knew that there were only two solutions to maintaining good patron service: either increase staff or provide self service, said Mr. Pace. "The benefits of self check-out stations, when ROI calculations were performed, justified the investment in RFID Self Check systems."
The library will be installing a combination of Bibliotheca's New Orleans kiosks and the desk top Geneva Self Check out system. Both system operate on the proven BiblioChip RFID software with intuitive user graphic interface. The systems feature stack processing which greatly reduces check-out time since each item does not need to be scanned.
