It was early 2009, and John Richards was testing the RFID inventory system he'd been working on for the past several years. John Richards manages the data centers for one of the country's largest equipment providers. The data center where the RFID system was being tested was around 2000 square feet and contained over 7000 individual pieces of equipment. Clearly identifying and tracking each asset in the center was a tremendous challenge.
