Avery Dennison RFID Unveils Broad New Gen 2 Inlay Portfolio For Range Of Carton/Pallet And Item-Level Applications

Real-World™ RFID Portfolio Addresses Difficult Carton Contents, Orientation Issues, And Global Frequency Needs

Avery Dennison RFID, a business unit of Avery Dennison Corporation (NYSE: AVY) and a leading provider of high-volume, high-quality, high-value RFID inlays, today announced that the company showcased the industry's broadest portfolio of high-performance Gen 2 RFID inlays at RFID World 2006 in Dallas, TX.

Avery Dennison RFID's Gen 2 portfolio includes products for carton/pallet and item-level applications and supports both EPC Gen 2 and ISO 18000-6C protocols. Avery Dennison RFID's robust product offering effectively addresses a variety of RF concerns, including RF-unfriendly carton contents, tag orientation issues, high-density environments, and other application challenges found in myriad real-world RFID environments.

"At Avery Dennison, we understand that different people have very different RFID needs. We are very proud to unveil a portfolio that provides solutions for a wide variety of applications," said George Reynolds, vice president, worldwide RFID sales and marketing, Avery Dennison RFID. "Our entire product line is designed, tested, and produced specifically to address real-world RFID issues; hence our new brand positioning – Real-World™ RFID.

Mr. Reynolds added, "Our new Gen 2 portfolio is on display at RFID World. It includes the previously launched AD-220, a small form-factor tag which gives end users a seamless transition from most Gen 1 tags (including our own AD-210). The portfolio also includes new carton/pallet and item-level tags, enabling widespread adoption of RFID by allowing even more product SKUs to be tagged and tracked in more locations around the world. We are also introducing a true "wide band" inlay that addresses our global customers' desire for a tag they can use throughout their worldwide operations."

All Avery Dennison RFID inlays are "converter-friendly," designed to integrate seamlessly into existing high-speed, high-volume label converting processes. To date, more than 20 of the company's label converter partners have participated in its Qualified Converter Program. This program – along with extensive, real-world applications testing resources at Avery Dennison RFID's Atlanta Technical Center – ensures the highest performance, quality, and value of finished RFID labels for end users.
