Auto ID & Sensing Expo On October 27 Features New England RFID Innovation

Massachusetts and New England are still the hub for many new RFID and Auto ID technologies, as highlighted by some 40 companies and organizations attending the upcoming Auto ID & Sensing exposition, October 27, 2009 from 5 to 10 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.

The conference and trade show, hosted by MIT TechLink and the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge RFID/Auto-ID and Sensing SIG, spotlights new Auto-ID applications from laboratory water purification and RFID-enabled poker chips, to technologies tracking athletes and an access control security system for Boston's own Pops Esplanade 4th of July Fireworks celebration. The event will take place on Student Street of the first floor of the Stata Center (Building 32), Vassar Street, at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.

Among the regional companies participating at the upcoming program include:

  • Millipore Corporation showing an RFID tracking for a water filtration system;
  • RF Integration Inc., demonstrating small and low-power RFID solutions;
  • Waltham's Tego Inc. offering a new, high-memory RFID technology;
  • Martindale Associates highlighting its RFID and handheld computing solution;
  • Emerson & Cuming MP demonstrating an ultra-thin metal-mount UHF tag;
  • Lynx Systems showing a range of sports/IT tracking applications;
  • CHIPCO International from Maine, which pioneered RFID for the gaming industry;
  • ThingMagic of Cambridge, featuring its range of RFID reader technology;
  • Visible Assets showing its "Hi-IQ" active high memory tags; and
  • USA ID demonstrating its ID and security cards and

The program features:

  • Auto ID and sensor demonstrations and networking from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. sponsored by TechLink.
  • Keynote addresses from Professor Sam Madden of MIT at 6:30 p.m. and Carlo Ratti, director of the Senseable City Lab at 7:15 p.m.
  • A gathering at R&D Pub for further networking from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. sponsored by the MIT Enterprise Forum RFID/Auto-ID and Sensing SIG.
