San Jose, CA /PRNewswire/ -- Leading agroscience and life science product provider Arysta LifeScience North America, LLC, has developed and deployed a Returnable/Reusable Container Tracking (RCT) Application using InSync's iApp Builder. Arysta LifeScience deployed the system in support of its new MIDAS® fumigant product launch. The system leverages both RFID and GPS to track and control returnable tanks as Arysta LifeScience mixes, fills and ships them to customers around the U.S., and will provide Arysta LifeScience with real-time visibility of finished product inventories, raw material inventories and the location of the tanks. The system has streamlined order fulfillment, product mixing and filling, storage, shipping and returns processing by allowing users to control the process and update SAP via handheld devices used in the filling/distribution center. The GPS used to track the tanks has been optimized for long battery life and is used to maintain a record of the location of the tanks.

Arysta LifeScience produces over 150 products for agroscience, including names such as EVEREST®, SELECT®, CAPTAN™ and ORTHENE®. Arysta LifeScience has over 2400 employees in offices around the globe focused on identifying, developing, marketing and distributing agrochemical products. For Arysta LifeScience, the production of agricultural products, from raw materials, order-based filling of tanks and management of on-site and returning inventory creates a logistical and systemic challenge.

Arysta LifeScience explored a variety of software and hardware providers to offer a solution to track tanks and associated processes within its facility. Ultimately they decided on InSync because of its ability to provide Arysta LifeScience with a complete device to dashboard solution, including device management, data collection, validation and filtering, backend SAP integration, dashboard visualization and performance metrics reporting. Another crucial aspect of InSync's offering was robust mobile application development and support capabilities. This was a must-have capability for Arysta LifeScience, as workers in the filling/distribution facilities needed to be able to use handhelds for identifying tanks and instructing the mixing, filling and returns processes.

InSync's returnable container tracking software application leverages GPS and RFID technologies to provide the location and identification of the tanks within the Arysta LifeScience facility as they are filled, stored and shipped to end-users. As the tanks are reusable, the application also provides visibility and identification of empty or partially empty tanks Arysta LifeScience receives from customers and to process a return credit for each customer based on the condition of the tank and the weight of the returned product. The system also maintains maintenance information for the tanks including condition and testing/maintenance dates.

InSync partnered with FreightWatch Security Net (FSN) for GPS location tracking technology. The FreightWatch Geo F1 tracker with 4.0 AHr extended battery is configured for low power consumption and to function in harsh, outdoor conditions. The tracker provides tank location and can be field deployed a year or longer on a single charge which is important in this application.

"When looking for a suitable solution for the tank tracking and management application we were focused on finding a solution that not only provided real-time visibility of product and process, but one that could provide the type of feedback and automation capabilities that can improve and streamline our operations," says Kevin Kroll, Inventory Analyst for Arysta LifeScience. "InSync's solution will enable us to maximize the value of our investment in tanks by giving us visibility needed to effectively manage the pool of tanks and avoid situations where a tank is 'lost' after use for weeks or months at a time."

"We were very proud to be selected by Arysta LifeScience for this returnable container tracking application," says Ashish Chona, CEO of InSync Software. "The combination of our iApp Builder and iApp Returnable Container Solution Template is a very comfortable fit in this case, as it allows Arysta LifeScience to remain flexible, reduce upfront investment and scale based on demonstrated success. In returnable container applications visibility is the key, as it paves the way for substantial process improvement, more accurate billing, and a myriad of other benefits."
