Advanced ID And RFID, LTD. Partner To Optimize USDA Animal Traceability Efforts

Leading technology integrator RFID, LTD. (OTC: RFDL) today announced an alliance with Advanced ID Corporation (OTC BB: AIDO). Advanced ID develops and manufactures uniquely numbered radio frequency identification (RFID) products for use in individual animals, providing a global identification solution for companion animals, agribusiness and also the automotive tire industry.

This alliance establishes RFID, LTD. as a preferred systems integrator for Advanced ID Corporation. The alliance between the two companies was forged in response to the animal traceability initiatives by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). As a certified SBA HUBZone Contractor, RFID LTD. is awaiting the finalization of $3 million in funds that the USDA will be awarding. The USDA funds will be provided in order to conduct more extensive field trials to analyze information pertaining to animal identification. Field trials will focus on the evaluation of new technologies for use in the establishment of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS).

"Developing an effective animal identification system has been a high priority for USDA and we've made significant strides toward achieving a comprehensive U.S. system," said Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns in a statement released April 6th. The USDA has established an aggressive timeline and associated benchmarks to incrementally enable the NAIS to be operational by 2007, and to ensuring full implementation by 2009.

"We are extremely pleased to be associated with Advanced ID Corporation, the largest domestic animal identification and recovery database proprietor in Canada. The Advanced ID DataTRAC™ livestock identification system has worked well in multiple documented tests and studies as well as applications," stated RFID, LTD. president Nicholas Chavez. "It is evident that our integrative capabilities and their existing RFID-based product set could dominate the agri-business landscape in the United States."
