PanGo Active RFID Tags® are small 802.11 active RFID tags that are attached to equipment or carried by people for real-time asset tracking. PanGo's Active RFID Tags are a key component of the PanGo Locator® enterprise asset tracking system. PanGo Locator consists of two key components: Active RFID Tags, which allows users to track assets that are not wireless-enabled, and the Locator Software, which manages system configuration, asset monitoring, reporting and rules-based notifications. Together, they allow users to track assets in real-time throughout an 802.11-enabled building or campus environment.

Among the most significant benefits and cost-saving features of the PanGo Locator system, including the the Active RFID Tags, is that it operates over any Wi-Fi network. Unlike alternative single-use proprietary tracking systems that require a separate network of readers and wireless infrastructure, Locator requires no additional network hardware overlay. Existing standard WLAN access points are the active RFID readers.

Active RFID Tag Key Features and Benefits

  • Compact Size. The small size and light weight of Active RFID Tags allow them to be affixed to a variety of asset types, including medical devices, manufacturing equipment, containers, vehicles and carts. They can also be carried by people.
  • Long Battery Life. Active RFID Tags use powerful replaceable batteries that can provide years of battery life. An advanced power management design ensures that Active RFID Tags maximize battery life under a variety of transmission and usage scenarios.
  • Dual Reporting Mode. PanGo's Active RFID Tag is the only active RFID tag that can report location and status in two modes: 1) Wi-Fi client mode, in which the tag transmits using 802.11b/g protocols and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11 b/g standards, and 2) "beacon" mode, in which the tag transmits only its network MAC address for identification. Dual mode operation provides the optimal combination of tag reporting capabilities (motion, low battery and remote configuration) and extended battery life.
  • Tag Configuration and Management. The intuitive tag-to-asset interface allows authorized users to associate PanGo's Active RFID Tags with important asset information such as manufacturer, departmental owner, serial number, and other asset specific data. Active RFID Tag reporting frequency and characteristics are user-definable, and all tag information can be programmed remotely (via a wireless connection) or directly via a serial interface.
  • Integrated Motion Detection. Active RFID tags include a built-in motion detector. This enables the tag to send motion alerts, and allows for different transmission rates depending on the asset state: stationary, in-motion, or transition from in-motion to stationary.
  • Time-Based Reporting Intervals. Active RFID Tags can be configured to report at whatever interval is best for network and asset tracking needs. They can also report at different intervals based on whether the tag is in motion or stationary, providing ultimate flexibility.
  • Multiple Mounting Options. Active RFID Tags can be affixed to assets using a variety of mounting options, including adhesive tape, Velcro, or hanger.
