Product Overview: Clarity RTI™ - Re-Usable Transport Items

Source: Xterprise Incorporated

Reusable transport items play a critical role in many environments to help ensure the timely, continuous flow of materials and products to customers and production. Xterprise and 3rd party research indicates that over 50 million RTIs are lost, damaged or otherwise removed from service each year at an estimated cost globally of close to $1B – the most significant portion of which are in the US and Europe. Without proper visibility and management of these valuable assets stockpiling occurs at artificially high levels at critical choke points, resulting in unnecessary replenishment to meet demand. The cost of RTIs to shippers, manufacturers and retailers has been rising in step with the global demand and prices of commodities; as such organizations can no longer ignore the bottom line implications of not having these assets at the correct location in the correct quantities when needed. Surprisingly, these assets are typically managed with spreadsheets or paper based systems. Without the Clarity RTI™ RFID-enabled application, keeping track and managing large volumes of RTIs across a constantly moving supply chain can be next to impossible.

The Clarity RTI™ application addresses the unique uses and resulting challenges of managing RTIs as they move between stakeholders in closed-loop environments typically found in retail, 3pl, and manufacturing organizations. The application provides highly granular visibility and control of RTI assets across all stakeholders, matching supply to demand while continuously measuring fleet performance.

At Xterprise, we have established a pedigree of excellence with Clarity RTI™ delivering value in many of the largest and most challenging RTI environments worldwide:

  • Managing millions of assets and millions of transactions each month for the leading plastic pallet pooling organization in North America. The scale of this deployment is second only to the US Department of Defense in terms of assets under management;
  • Optimization of high cost RTIs used in production in a large Japanese automaker's assembly facility;
  • Actively tracking the exposure of RTIs to ambient environmental variables to ensure safe shipment and integrity of reagents used in pharmaceutical manufacturing as well as liquids used in semiconductor manufacturing;
  • Automating the complex flow of inbound raw materials contained in RTIs into a lean manufacturing for a leading automotive electronics supplier.
