MIKOH Secures Exclusive Five Year Printer Supply Agreement

  • First machine already built and located in MIKOH Melbourne HQ.
  • Further digital inkjet systems sales anticipated over the five year agreement.
  • Additional five year license agreement to provide finished printed lids for new fast moving consumer goods market.

MIKOH Corporation Limited has secured an exclusive five year world-wide supply agreement for digital inkjet UV printer systems along with an additional exclusive five year license agreement to provide finished printed lids for packaging innovation company Snapsil Corporation. Snapsil, one of Australia's SMART 100 companies, launched its innovative packaging technology to the world at Pack Expo in Chicago in November 2008.

This relationship provides access to the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, health care, personal care and industrial market segments for MIKOH's digital inkjet systems, as Snapsil progressively commercialises its technology. The first of these machines has been built and is located in MIKOH's Melbourne headquarters. This machine is designed to produce finished lidding material exclusively for Snapsil in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

MIKOH will be further utilising this machine to develop other opportunities in the food and pharmaceutical sector for its secure authentication technology.

"Snapsil is initially targeting the global food packaging market with a unique and patented ‘snapping utensil/container' which offers an on-the-go, single-serve package that integrates product storage with a highly functional utensil or applicator in one branded product", stated Snapsil Corporation's Executive Director, John Wilson. "We believe that the market potential for our technology is substantial, and our relationship with MIKOH is an ideal strategic fit that enables Snapsil to deliver, to the major brand owners, strongly differentiated innovative packaging solutions with high quality, on-demand digital printing capability".

"Reaction to the machine at the recent PacPrint show, which carried the full Snapsil four-colour digital inkjet and die-cutting specifications, was very positive" commented Hans van Pelt, MIKOH's Vice President/General Manager, Australian Operations. "Early response to the $500,000 price point for this digital inkjet MIKOH imaging system is very encouraging. Snapsil has a number of significant strategic partnerships with major industry players who are backing this new technology".
