IDENTEC SOLUTIONS Receives First Order From The U.S. Department Of Defense For ILR ISO 18000-7 Technology

IDENTEC SOLUTIONS, the global leader in industrial active RFID based solutions, patented ILR technology will now be deployed by the single largest user of active RFID products in the world - the U.S. Department of Defense.

Under development since early 2007, the ILR ISO 18000-7 product line is the latest addition to IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' award-winning ILR technology portfolio. By utilizing third generation ILR, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' is able to offer its customers a new, robust product line with track and locate capabilities so advanced - it virtually combines multi-system features into one solution while delivering all the benefits of the ISO 18000-7 standard. The IDENTEC SOLUTIONS' ILR ISO 18000-7 tags will used by the Department of Defense to track and locate vehicles, cargo, containers and other valuable assets.

"This first significant order from the U.S. Department of Defense is an important step for IDENTEC SOLUTIONS as it validates over two years of development work, and places us at the forefront of providing a full-line of fully interoperable, active RFID products in both the commercial and governmental marketplace," states Gerhard Schedler, President and CEO, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS.

Making this particularly unique is that this is the first large scale order for a completely interoperable active RFID technology product line while also marking the DoD's adoption of the newly established ISO 18000-7 standard.

"This is an important move for the active RFID industry," states Peter Linke, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS. "The long-term benefits of a universal standard are significant, even in the commercial market. By utilizing a common frequency, the technology now offers global acceptance - reducing the need for repetitive infrastructure and interoperability potential. We are delighted that U.S. Department of Defense is the first active RFID user to embrace the new standard - and ultimately IDENTEC SOLUTIONS ILR ISO 18000-7 technology."

In 2009, the Dash7 Alliance, a consortium made up of leading active RFID industry players, was founded with the goal of working together to advance the use of DASH7 wireless data technology through the development of extensions to the ISO 18000-7 standard. This order represents the U.S. DoD's move to adopt the new multiple vendor standard while moving away from the previously utilized ANSI proprietary standard. In December 2008, the U.S. Department of announced four selected vendors further to its RFID III procurement contract. IDENTEC SOLUTIONS` ILR ISO 18000-7 technology was included in two of the four successful bids.

The recent U.S. DoD Task Order, valued at 9 million USD, is the first order under the 3 year U.S. Department of Defense RFID III Procurement contract valued at 428.6M.
