Guardian RFID Upgrades To VISI's ReliaCloud™ Service

Today, VISI Inc. announced they have signed a three-year contract with Guardian RFID to provide ReliaCloud™ service. Guardian RFID is the first company in the country to offer inmate management via Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) powered by ReliaCloud.

“Our original Software-as-a-Service platform, including a hybrid environment with old servers and old systems, was aging,” said Brett Wilmeth, vice president of Guardian RFID. “We wanted to move from colocation to a fully managed service environment. By selecting VISI’s ReliaCloud service, we knew we were upgrading to the most reliable cloud platform available. Now, instead of focusing on our IT, we can concentrate on our business and providing our customers with a higher level of support.”

A VISI customer since 2008, Guardian RFID is the flagship platform for Minneapolis-based Codex Corp., which builds and markets its inmate management systems leveraging RFID, mobile, and the Cloud. Guardian RFID is exclusively endorsed by the National Sheriffs’ Association and works with law enforcement and detention centers coast-to-coast requiring 24/7 access to data and applications that help manage, monitor, and track inmates in custody.

During the migration to ReliaCloud, VISI worked with Guardian RFID, slowly moving customers to the new managed service platform. According to Wilmeth, the direct, high-speed Internet connectivity between VISI’s Minnesota data centers in St. Paul and Eden Prairie meant minimal disruption or impact on customers.

Wilmeth added, “The transition was smooth and now, our IT systems are fully managed by VISI. They also fully maintain and monitor our IT infrastructure. And, when we need to add a new server or more RAM, we call VISI and they quickly reconfigure our IT environment.”
