Carbon Fiber Presentation To Explore RFID Composites Applications

Plataine will offer at Carbon Fiber 2014 (Dec. 9-11, La Jolla, Calif., USA) information on the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) in composites fabrication to help track vital inventory data and help streamline operations.

CompositesWorld reports that one of the presentations planned for its annual Carbon Fiberconference (Dec. 9-11, La Jolla, Calif., USA) will focus on the advantages and applications of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology in composites manufacturing envionments.

"Increased Productivity by RFID-Based Material & Asset Tracking: From the Freezer to the Autoclave and Beyond" will be presented by Plataine (Petach Tikva, Israel) and address data consistency and management challenges in a composites fabrication environment. Plataine will present an innovative, holistic decision framework that incorporates sophisticated software and RFID technology to store and track vital inventory data and to methodically and efficiently provide a dynamic and integrated optimization approach – based on close collaboration between engineering and manufacturing, while bridging the gaps between the platforms they use (ERP, CAD, PLM, MES, etc.). This solution allows for increased visibility and process control as a basis for dramatic improvements of production efficiencies.

Carbon Fiber 2014 will be held at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., USA, Dec. 9-11. The event is co-chaired this year by Tia Benson-Tolle, director of advanced materials, product development, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (Seattle, Wash., USA) and Doug Ward, consulting engineer-composites, GE Aviation (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA).
