Zebra Technologies RFID Printer/Encoders Part Of U.S. Army's $75M Passive RFID Contract Award

Zebra Technologies Corporation, a global leader in specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, recently announced that it has been selected by three leading government contractors as a hardware partner in fulfilling a contract recently awarded by the U.S. Army's Product Manager Joint-Automatic Information Technology (PM J-AIT) for total RFID and AIT solutions. The IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity) contract is valued at over $75M.

Lowry Computer Products, Northrop Grumman Corporation, and ODIN technologies all selected Zebra's RZ400 RFID printer/encoders as a key hardware component in their pRFID solutions. Under the terms of the PM-J AIT contract, the prime contractors and their business partner networks will provide complete turnkey RFID solutions, software, acquisition support and technical services to the DoD Joint Services, Federal agencies, NATO, and multinational forces.

"Zebra is very honored to have been chosen as a preferred hardware partner by these three leading defense contractors," said Greg O'Connell, Director of Government Sales for Zebra Technologies. "These awards illustrate Zebra's leadership position in the market, and reinforce our continuing commitment to serve government and DoD customers with the technology solutions they need to carry out their mission-critical responsibilities."

"Lowry Computer Products has been supplying the Federal Government, as well as the DoD with Zebra's printing technologies for over 20 years, using our GSA and AIT Schedules, and we are extremely pleased to be able to include them in this contract," said Steve Lowry, executive vice president, Lowry Computer Products.

Commenting on the selection of Zebra as a hardware partner, Daniel Connolly of ODIN technologies said: "Zebra's versatility and adherence to the DoD's rigorous standards made it the right choice for ODIN technologies to partner with in support of the warfighter."

The Zebra RZ400 is a UHF RFID Gen 2 midrange printer/encoder offering rugged, all-metal construction, high reliability and broad functionality at a competitive price point. The RZ400 units are well-suited for on-demand printing/encoding of 4-inch, EPC-compliant RFID labels and tags for supply chain and asset tracking applications. Additional advantages of the RZ400 in military supply chain applications include wireless connectivity, multi-language support, and easy integration into existing IT platforms and applications. Zebra also offers a full complement of Genuine Zebra supplies for use with Zebra RFID printer/encoders to ensure smooth operation and compatibility.
