RFID In Library: West Point Selects Bibliotheca RFID

April 24, 2007

The United States Military Academy Library has chosen Bibliotheca as their RFID provider for their new library. "We are honored that West Point chose us for their new state-of-the-art library at the Academy" said Emmett F. Erwin, President and CEO of Bibliotheca Inc. The new library will be built next to the current library and will feature a magnificent six-story building with most of the circulating collection on the second floor. Located overlooking the Hudson River approximately fifty miles north of New York City, West Point is the oldest military post in the United States.

The Library is the oldest Federal Library. The new home of the Library is Jefferson Hall which is scheduled to open in 2008. The new USMA Library and Learning Center will occupy a prominent space directly opposite the present library. "Jefferson Hall was conceived with the needs of the cadets and of the US Army in mind", stated Joseph Barth, Librarian, USMA. "It will be a place where education happens, where learning partnerships are formed and where the future leaders of the US Army will become skilled in information assessment techniques."

The Bibliotheca RFID system offered several features that West Point found important to their mission, e.g. excellent software, well-documented with encryption. The Collection conversion has proven quick and easy for the staff to implement. Bibliotheca's attractive Self Check Systems work directly with Innovative Interfaces GUI. Millennium Circulation Client with fully-integrated Bibliotheca RFID operation, provides fast and seamless circulation activities. Booster label allows for both self checkout and security for AV media without the addition of plastic lock boxes. Media pack software allows for verification of contents without opening the AV packaging. Inventory Wands are fast, accurate and wireless, operating in real time, with the ability to do inventory and search for misplaced items without touching the books. And: Bibliotheca's staff training is quick and easy. For additional information please visit www.bibliotheca-rfid.com and www.library.usma.edu.
