PowerID Brings On Five New Partners In Europe

PowerID Ltd., the industry leader in Battery-Assisted, Passive (BAP) RFID technology, announced recently that it has concluded partnership agreements with five value-added reseller and system integrator partners in Europe following the opening of its Netherlands office in May 2008.

New partners include Bluhm Systeme (Germany), Creative Systems (Portugal), Easy Logic (Netherlands), RFID Solutions (Romania), and Saident (Spain). There has been growing interest in Europe for PowerID's ability to provide performance levels that exceed those of passive labels. In addition, the new partners find PowerID's Gen. 2 BAP product portfolio compelling since it combines the high performance and reliability of a BAP label with support for standards-based Gen. 2 RFID readers.

"With PowerID's BAP labels, we are able to win projects that were impossible to approach with the inferior performance of passive UHF tags," said João Vilaça, CEO of Creative Systems. "We have found that when it comes to the harshest and most unpredictable situations, PowerID labels are the best choice."

PowerID labels operate in the ultra high frequency (UHF) range (850-960 MHz) and are designed to track challenging materials—such as liquids, metal, and paper—that can negatively affect the reliability of traditional RFID technology. PowerID's partners, which are integrating PowerID into projects, have a high-performing alternative to passive labels for their customers that need to track items containing these challenging materials.

"We had some projects in the past that did not meet our clients' expectations because the technology itself had its limitations," said Dani Rodríguez Prieto, Managing Director of Saident Solutions. "However, we now see a serious demand for the labels that PowerID brings since they give us the key to reliable, high performance RFID solutions."

The key to BAP's performance lies with PowerID's flexible battery technology, which enables readability in difficult environments while boosting the read range of the labels. BAP provides performance that is comparable to active RFID technology, but at a much lower price point and with better performance than those of passive RFID tags.

"I am very pleased with the high level of interest being exhibited by VARs since opening the European office in May," said Fred de Haas, PowerID Director of Sales, Europe. "Our new European partners are RFID leaders in their respective countries, and I look forward to working with them to further expand our presence in Europe."
