MetaPack And The Loftware Print Server Improve Picture For UK's Leading Photography Retailer

March 13, 2006

MetaPack, a Loftware channel partner, is a leading London-based value-added software provider specializing in specialized and sophisticated enterprise delivery management solutions. At the end of 2005, with the help of the Loftware Print Server, MetaPack responded to the urgent delivery management need of the UK's biggest photo retail outlet. Called Jessops, the publicly-traded company founded in 1935 has 285 stores throughout Britain, stocks and sells more than 16,000 items, and has a formidable online e-commerce presence.

Facing the holiday season, Jessops wanted to make sure they could maintain and improve customer service levels throughout this period of strong demand. In order to manage an increased number of orders, they identified the need to improve operational efficiency and streamline their dispatch process. They also wanted to extend order cut off times and continue shipping orders through the holiday period.

In just eight weeks, MetaPack helped Jessops reduce the complexity of a multi-carrier approach and successfully integrate a solution with six home delivery carriers. Specifically, MetaPack's delivery management solution significantly reduced the manual entry and copying of data involved with using more than one carrier. And, thanks to LPS, MetaPack's solution uses standardized parcel label technology, which means a separate printer and terminal for each carrier is no longer required.

The result for Jessops: The company announced a 74.3% increase in direct sales in the five weeks leading up to January 1st.
