Intermec Trains Partners On RFID

April 30, 2004

(Everett, WA) - The highly publicized mandates from Wal-Mart, the Department of Defense, and others have spiked interest in RFID (radio frequency identification) across Intermec's partner community. In response, the AIDC (automatic identification and data collection) solution provider has redesigned its RFID training and certification program to make it more applicable to a broader audience. Thus far, 73 of Intermec's Honors Partners have completed the program, thereby achieving Intermec RFID Authorized Partner status.

Existing Intermec Honors Partners (including resellers and software consulting partners) can participate in the program by completing a three-day training course at an Intermec facility. The class is designed to provide hands-on training on Intermec's RFID products to groups of 14 or fewer students. Separate tracks are offered for sales and technical personnel, and partners are encouraged to send at least one of each. Intermec has conducted the class on-site for large partners.

"We have had an RFID partner program for over four years," said Annie Neubrech, Intermec's director of channel partner programs. "Because of the exploding interest in EPCglobal compliant RFID solutions, we modified the program to address the needs of our partners who are new to RFID. In three days, we teach the basics, where to find answers, and how to engage Intermec's professional services team for help."
